Burnouts short film starring Jeff Poindexter and Ben Snedecor

Burnouts: Growing Up Is Overrated

Some people grow up. Jeff and Ben apparently missed the memo.

Burnouts follows two lifelong friends pushing 30 who are still mentally living somewhere around 2005. Jeff is nursing a breakup. Ben has just lost his dead-end job. Their solution? Spend the day helping each other finally get their lives together.

It goes about as well as you’d expect.

What follows is an unapologetically ridiculous buddy comedy packed with terrible advice, misplaced confidence and the kind of questionable decision-making that only makes sense when your best friend is standing beside you saying, “Trust me.”

At the center are Jeff Poindexter and Ben Snedecor, playing friends whose loyalty to each other may be the only thing stronger than their ability to make a bad situation worse. Donovan Blowers joins them as Connor, one of the unfortunate people caught in the orbit of their questionable decision-making.

Poindexter also directs, while Poindexter and Snedecor wrote the film together. Their real-life friendship helps give the chaos an easy chemistry—and underneath all the stupidity, there’s genuine affection for these two burnouts.

Behind the camera, Burnouts is produced by Dylan Peshek, Poindexter and Snedecor.

A loving throwback to the outrageous comedies of the early 2000s, Burnouts embraces arrested development, male friendship and the uncomfortable realization that everyone else somehow became an adult while you weren’t looking.

And sometimes taking control of your life is the fastest way to completely lose control of it.
