In this post-pandemic apocalypse, John Rutherford has survived something almost no one else has. Once a senior CDC official warning that a rapidly evolving virus could become catastrophic, John watched politics, ambition, and distrust overwhelm the science around him. Then the unthinkable happened.
Years later, John is alone. Haunted by the deaths of his family, especially his daughter Lexi, he has retreated to a remote cabin where survival has become routine. Canned food, isolation, and the same ritual repeated again and again: baking the birthday cake he never managed to deliver.
John survived the apocalypse, but he has never escaped the day his family died.
That begins to change when Sam arrives. A fellow survivor carrying trauma of his own, Sam forces John to confront the guilt, fear, and memories that have kept him frozen in the past. Their unexpected connection turns the story from a traditional pandemic thriller into something much more personal.
At its heart, the film explores PTSD, survivor’s guilt, grief, loneliness, and the question of what it actually means to survive. It also examines the consequences of placing enormous power in the hands of people more concerned with control, reputation, and self-preservation than the lives around them.
Dark, sometimes funny, and ultimately human, the story asks whether survival is enough if you have forgotten how to live. The film is written by Ezekiel N. Drews, Directed by Ezekiel N.
