Some families pass down recipes. Others pass down heirlooms. In Bloody Stuffing, the family legacy happens to involve cannibalism, demon worship and a potentially catastrophic doorway to the underworld. Jimmy (Dorian Lively) isn’t exactly an ordinary troubled kid. He’s killed small animals, shanked a classmate and even strangled his own father. So when his dad, Daryl (Adam Farias), decides Jimmy is finally old enough to live on his own, his birthday present is unconventional: he’s banished to the family shed. Unfortunately for Daryl, this isn’t just any shed.
Grandpa Had a Hobby
While digging through the belongings left behind by his grandfather (Drew Hodson), Jimmy discovers that the family’s notorious patriarch wasn’t simply a murderer and cannibal. Grandpa was also a demon worshipper who had been attempting to bring his master into our world. Where most people might see that discovery as a warning, Jimmy sees inspiration.
With the help of his Satanist friend Michael, Jimmy begins deciphering his grandfather’s notes and learning the requirements of a demonic ritual. Soon, teenage rebellion has escalated from rejecting Dad’s rules to attempting to summon an actual being of brimstone.
Horror With a Twisted Sense of Humor
Bloody Stuffing embraces its gruesome premise without taking its characters or the conventions of occult horror too seriously. Jimmy argues with a note written by his dead grandfather. Demon-summoning instructions require translation. Even supernatural evil seems capable of becoming frustrated with the people trying to unleash it.
Written and directed by Drew Hodson, who also produces and appears in the film, Bloody Stuffing turns a dysfunctional father-son relationship into a darkly comic story about rebellion, family history and what happens when embracing your roots goes much, much too far.
